Scott Sinclair — Sapphire Global Investments

Scott Sinclair announced the launch of Sapphire Global Investments (SGI), a new investment vehicle focused primarily on private debt, with selective opportunities in equity investmentsSinclair Range serves as advisor to SGI.

SGI targets deal sizes between $3M–$5M, with a sweet spot around $1M for DIP and first secured lending. Members are encouraged to bring forward relevant deal opportunities for review.

Scott also shared an example of a recent transaction — the Miquelon Meter deal — as an illustration of the types of opportunities SGI will pursue.

Sinoveda — Yun Tam & Dr. Nuzhat Tam-Zaman

Next, Yun Tam and Dr. Nuzhat Tam-Zaman presented Sinoveda Canada Inc., a pioneering biotech company using AI-driven drug discovery to develop innovative therapies.

Sinoveda’s focus areas include solid tumors (liver, colon, and brain cancers) and infectious diseases, such as Long COVID. The presentation showcased how Sinoveda combines data science, molecular modeling, and traditional pharmaceutical expertise to accelerate drug development.

John Maden – The Infrastructure Demands of AI

Rounding out the session, John Maden led a thought-provoking discussion on the infrastructure demands of the AI boom, focusing on the capital investment projections and energy requirements driving this rapidly expanding sector.

The conversation explored how AI is reshaping not only the tech landscape but also the operational and capital strategies of nearly every industry. In John’s words, we also learned to “be rude to our AIs.”
